Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026
1. Purpose
This Privacy Policy explains how NEAARA collects, uses, keeps and protects its users’ personal data when they use the NEAARA mobile app and related services.
NEAARA is a professional platform that lets users discover professionals nearby, grow their network, build connections, discover opportunities and take part in certain professional features offered on the platform.
This policy applies to users of the NEAARA app and to people using the related services when their personal data is processed in that context.
NEAARA is reserved for people aged at least 18 and does not knowingly collect data about minors. If we learn that an account belongs to a person under 18, it is deleted along with the associated data.
2. Data controller
The data controller for personal data is:
Maawa SOUARE, sole trader (entrepreneur individuel, EI) trading as SOU (SIREN 818 142 952), operator of the NEAARA platform.
Registered office: 47 rue Vivienne, 75002 Paris, France.
Contact email: contact@neaara.com
For any question about the protection of your data or the exercise of your rights, you can contact NEAARA at this address.
3. Personal data collected
Depending on the features used, NEAARA may process the following categories of data.
3.1. Account data
When the account is created and used, the following may be processed:
- email address;
- information needed for authentication;
- phone number verified by SMS, which secures the account;
- first and last name;
- date of birth;
- profile photo;
- work email address, when provided and verified;
- notification preferences and app language;
- information about the account’s status.
3.2. Contacts (optional)
If you allow it, NEAARA compares the phone numbers and email addresses in your contacts with those of members, so it can show you the people you already know. This information is turned into encrypted fingerprints (hashing) before comparison; your contacts are not kept. Only the result (the members recognised) is saved. No connection is created automatically. You can withdraw permission at any time in your phone’s settings.
Where a password is used, it is managed by NEAARA’s authentication system and is not accessible to NEAARA in readable form.
4. Professional information
To run the professional network, NEAARA may process:
- job or role;
- company;
- skills;
- professional biography;
- professional experience;
- education;
- languages;
- professional preferences and intentions;
- “Available for” information;
- availability for certain opportunities;
- information about VIP status;
- information needed for certain professional features;
- CV or references to documents when this feature is used.
This information is used in particular to build the professional profile and facilitate connections between users.
5. Location and how the map works
The NEAARA map uses the user’s location when they allow this feature.
Location may be used in particular to:
- show the user’s position on the map;
- allow the discovery of professionals nearby;
- calculate or show the proximity between users;
- enable certain features based on geographic proximity.
NEAARA uses the location permission while the app is in use and does not currently request permanent background location permission.
Location is particularly sensitive data from a privacy point of view. NEAARA therefore limits its use to what is necessary for the features concerned.
When allowed, the last known position may be saved on the profile to power the proximity features. A position that is too old may stop appearing in proximity results, without an automatic purge at a fixed date currently being guaranteed.
The saved position is updated when the features concerned are used, and is handled as part of account deletion when deletion is requested.
When the user signs out, the last position is no longer used: the user immediately stops appearing on the map.
6. Profile visibility
NEAARA lets its users control their visibility in certain features of the platform.
The information visible to other users may depend in particular on:
- the user’s access level;
- the features used;
- NEAARA’s privacy rules;
- the account’s visibility settings;
- any restrictions or blocks.
Some information may be deliberately limited, hidden or protected to preserve users’ privacy.
NEAARA may also put protective mechanisms in place that prevent direct access to certain data when a user does not have the necessary rights.
When your identity is hidden from another user, they may see a very small, blurred thumbnail of your photo, generated by our servers. Your original photo is not sent to them.
7. Networking and professional interactions
NEAARA may process data about interactions carried out on the platform, including:
- professional requests and connections;
- meetings or interactions started through the platform;
- crossings or proximity features;
- applications;
- opportunities;
- sign-ups to certain events;
- blocks or visibility restrictions;
- reports;
- networking preferences;
- use of networking limits and features.
This data is used to provide the requested features, secure the platform, prevent abuse and improve how the service works.
8. VIP features
When a user requests or obtains VIP status, NEAARA may process the information needed for:
- reviewing the request;
- verifying the status;
- organising a possible exchange or call;
- the administrative handling of the case;
- communicating with the user.
Some information may be shared with technical providers strictly necessary to organise these features.
9. Subscriptions and payments
NEAARA offers different access plans, which may include Free, Premium, Privilège and Elite offers as well as certain temporary passes.
Depending on the device used, payments and subscriptions may involve Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) for in-app purchases, RevenueCat for tracking those purchases, and Stripe for payments made outside the platforms. NEAARA does not receive your payment card details: for in-app purchases, payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google.
NEAARA may keep, in particular:
- Stripe customer ID or platform transaction ID (App Store, Google Play);
- subscription ID;
- payment session ID;
- plan purchased;
- subscription status;
- start and end dates;
- information needed to track billing.
Full payment card details are not stored in NEAARA’s application databases.
Payments are processed by Stripe in accordance with its own terms and privacy policies.
10. Emails and notifications
NEAARA may use specialised technical services to send:
- authentication emails;
- verification emails;
- account-related communications;
- communications about VIP features;
- reminders;
- notifications related to how the platform works.
The Resend service may be used in particular for some emails.
For mobile notifications, NEAARA may use Expo’s notification services.
The data needed for sending, in particular the email address or notification token, may be passed to the provider concerned.
Phone verification codes are sent by SMS through the Twilio service, which receives the phone number and the content of the message.
11. Third-party services
To provide its services, NEAARA may use various technical providers, including:
Supabase
Used in particular for:
- authentication;
- the database;
- storage;
- certain server functions.
Stripe
Used for:
- payments;
- subscriptions;
- billing management.
Apple, Google and RevenueCat
Used for in-app purchases (subscriptions and passes) and tracking them: your NEAARA account ID, product purchased, subscription dates and status.
Resend
Used for certain transactional emails and service-related communications.
Expo
Used in particular for the app’s technical operation and push notifications.
System mapping services
The app may use the mapping services available through the operating system and the mapping libraries used by NEAARA.
Google services linked to certain features
Certain specific features, notably related to VIP meetings or calls, may use services such as Google Meet or Google Calendar.
Each provider may process certain data necessary to provide its service.
Twilio
Used to send verification codes by SMS: phone number and message content.
DeepL
Used to automatically suggest translations of the job titles and skills that members add to the catalogue. Only these titles are sent, with no personal data; each translation is reviewed by the NEAARA team before publication.
Sentry
Used to detect crashes and technical errors in the app so that we can fix them. Sentry receives technical information (device model and operating system, app version, screen and error description) and a technical account identifier, without name, email or profile content. Data is hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt).
Vercel Web Analytics
Used to measure the audience of the neaara.com website and of the web version of the app (pages viewed, where visits come from, country, device type and browser). This measurement works without cookies and without identifying visitors: the data is aggregated and anonymous.
12. Proximity and Bluetooth technologies
Some NEAARA features may use proximity technologies available on the phone, notably Bluetooth.
While the app is open and you have allowed it, your phone broadcasts over Bluetooth a temporary random code, renewed every 15 minutes, and reads those of other members in the immediate vicinity. This code contains neither your name nor a permanent identifier: only NEAARA’s servers know which account it belongs to, and they apply your visibility settings and blocks. An encounter detected this way is saved as a “crossing” in your network. Expired codes are deleted.
NEAARA does not use these features to deliberately build a permanent history of the user’s movements.
13. Purposes of processing
Personal data is used in particular to:
- create and manage accounts;
- authenticate users;
- display and manage professional profiles;
- run the map;
- allow the discovery of professionals nearby;
- facilitate professional connections;
- manage opportunities and applications;
- manage VIP features;
- manage subscriptions and payments;
- send necessary communications;
- keep the platform secure;
- prevent fraud, abuse and prohibited behaviour;
- handle reports;
- comply with legal obligations;
- defend NEAARA’s rights in the event of a dispute.
NEAARA does not sell its users’ personal data.
14. Security
NEAARA implements technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against, in particular:
- unauthorised access;
- unauthorised modification;
- disclosure;
- destruction;
- accidental loss.
Access to data is limited to the people and services that need it to run the service.
NEAARA uses in particular authentication mechanisms, access controls and security policies within its technical services.
However, no computer system can guarantee absolute security.
15. Data retention
NEAARA keeps personal data for as long as necessary for the service to work and for the purpose for which it is processed, subject to legal obligations or the need to keep certain data to defend its rights.
The periods below describe how the platform currently works. They are not a promise of an automatic purge mechanism at a fixed date where no such mechanism is in place.
Account and profile
Account and profile data is kept for as long as the account is used, until the user deletes it or, where applicable, until a decision by NEAARA in line with applicable regulations.
Location
The last position used for proximity features is kept on the profile until it is updated or the account is deleted. A position that is too old may no longer be taken into account for proximity display.
Networking and interactions
Data about networking and interactions (connections, requests, meetings, applications, crossings, etc.) is kept for as long as needed for the service to work and for relationships between users, unless the account is deleted or other handling is provided for in this policy.
Reports and security
Information about reports, abuse and security incidents may be kept as long as necessary for platform security, abuse prevention and the defence of the rights of NEAARA or its users. When an account is deleted, some report data linked to that account may also be erased along with the associated data.
Billing data
Some data needed for billing, accounting or compliance with legal obligations may be kept for the periods required by applicable regulations, notably up to 10 years for accounting records where applicable.
Technical logs
Technical and security logs may be produced by NEAARA or its providers to ensure the service’s operation, diagnostics and security. How long they are kept depends on the tools used and operational needs, with no single automatic period guaranteed in this policy.
Notification data
Notification tokens are linked to the account and deleted with it as part of the deletion process.
Photo and documents
The profile photo stored by NEAARA is deleted as part of the account deletion process. Any documents linked to the account and stored by NEAARA are handled in the same way where they exist.
Stripe data
NEAARA may keep IDs and information needed to track the subscription. Payment data is processed by Stripe, a third-party provider, in accordance with its own privacy policy. NEAARA does not store full bank details and cannot guarantee the deletion of all data held by Stripe.
16. Account deletion
Users can request the deletion of their account using the features provided for this purpose.
When deletion is carried out, the current process includes in particular:
- deletion of the authentication account;
- deletion of the profile data and linked data that are automatically erased with that account;
- deletion of the profile photo stored by NEAARA, where it exists;
- cancellation of the personal Stripe subscription linked to the account, where a personal subscription ID is present;
- handling of any company responsibilities according to the applicable succession rules (transfer, orphaning or deletion of the company page, depending on the case).
Deleting the account does not mean that all data linked to the user disappears absolutely everywhere. Some information may remain, in particular for legal, security, billing or company governance reasons, or because of processing carried out by third-party providers.
17. Data that may remain after deletion
After the account is deleted, some information may remain, in particular:
- data needed for accounting or legal obligations;
- information needed to handle a dispute or defend rights;
- data or history linked to a company page, an ownership succession or professional billing that is not exclusively attached to the deleted account;
- data kept by external providers (notably Stripe) under their own obligations and policies;
- any technical or billing traces needed for third-party systems to work.
This data is not intended to allow continued everyday use of the deleted account on NEAARA.
18. Your rights
In accordance with applicable regulations, you may in particular have:
- a right of access to your data;
- a right to rectification;
- a right to erasure;
- a right to restriction of processing;
- a right to object in the cases provided for by regulations;
- a right to data portability where the conditions are met;
- the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on it.
Exercising a right does not necessarily mean that all data can be deleted immediately where retention is required by law or necessary to defend rights.
19. Exercising your rights
To exercise your rights or ask a question about your personal data, you can contact: contact@neaara.com
To protect users’ data, NEAARA may ask for the information needed to verify the identity of the person making the request.
NEAARA strives to respond to requests within the time limits set by applicable regulations.
20. Complaint to the CNIL
If you believe that the processing of your personal data does not comply with applicable regulations, you can contact NEAARA first to try to resolve the issue.
You can also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL).
21. Data transfers
Some technical providers used by NEAARA may process data from countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area.
Where applicable, NEAARA puts in place the safeguards required by applicable regulations, notably appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
22. Cookies and similar technologies
The NEAARA website or certain related services may use cookies or similar technologies necessary for them to work.
Where non-essential cookies are used, the applicable rules on information and, where necessary, consent are applied.
23. Changes to this policy
NEAARA may change this Privacy Policy to take into account:
- changes to its services;
- changes to its features;
- technical changes;
- regulatory changes.
In the event of a significant change, users may be informed by appropriate means.
The date of the last update is shown at the top of this policy.
